About Radio Brazil Band

The Beginning of everything

Marcos Martins, the creator and founder of Radio Brazil Band, has a long-standing relationship with music. Since his teenage years in Brazil, he began playing his first chords inspired by his dad. From that point on, he never stopped. While still in his home country, he formed the band Faces Opostas with his dearest friends Flavio Ferreira and Danillo Sperandio, which still exists and is revived every time he returns to Brazil for a visit.

When he moved to the United States in the early 2000s and felt the need to reconnect with his musical roots, Marcos initially formed the band Som Brazil, which would later evolve into the Radio Brazil Band in 2006.

Radio Brazil and Friends

Back in the early 2000s, Marcos began playing with Jayme Fernandes—still a core member of Radio Brazil—along with Evan “Caverninha,” Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, and others. He found more than just bandmates; he connected with great friends. Despite having left Arizona, Evan and Gabe still join the band whenever they return.

Radio Brazil Band also has other dear friends from outside Arizona who come back to make events brighter and full of love, such as Halysson Silva (from California)

Radio Brazil Band now

In 2022, Flavio inadvertently brought Dre Nascimento, who came to Arizona to sing five songs at Carnaval. She fell in love with the place, the band, and the atmosphere, moved here, and is now a permanent member of Radio Brazil.

Dre Nascimento joined Radio Brazil in 2023 after moving from Brazil to the United States. As a Brazilian with a lifelong passion for music, she quickly became an integral part of the organization, helping strengthen its mission of bringing the Brazilian community together through music, culture, and unforgettable events.

Today, Dre is one of the driving forces behind Radio Brazil and BR Nights Events, working alongside Marcos to create memorable experiences for the Brazilian community in Arizona. Since joining the team, she has helped expand the organization’s events, continually raising the quality of each production while bringing the authentic energy and spirit of Brazil to every celebration.

With a background in communications, marketing, and event promotion, Dre combines creativity, strategy, and a passion for building community, helping create experiences that make Brazilians feel at home while introducing others to the joy and vibrancy of Brazilian culture.

Radio Brazil and BR Nights Events are known for producing some of Arizona’s most anticipated Brazilian events, including the region’s premier Carnaval celebrations, Brazil Fest Arizona, which honors Brazil’s Independence Day, private events, and, most recently, the highly successful FIFA World Cup Watch Parties, bringing hundreds of Brazilians together to celebrate, connect, and cheer for Brazil.
